Vape Kits
Vape kits is one of the numerous terms used to describe electronic cigarettes. E-cigs are comprised of three main components: the battery, the tank and the coils. Regarding the coils, they are either replaceable or prebuilt into a pod style tank. There are two main categories of vape kit, which are mouth to lung (MTL) and direct to lung (DL) devices. MTL kits are ideal for new vapers, whereas DL kits are usually vaped by more advanced users. We supply a great range of high quality vape kits, suitable for almost any vaper.

What is a Vape Kit?
A ‘vape kit’ or electronic cigarette is a device used to vaporise nicotine containing liquid. The intent of this is to provide users with an alternative nicotine delivery that mimics smoking. There are three main components of a vape kit that each have a pivotal role in providing your vape experience.
The Battery
The battery of an e-cig provides power to the device and is either an internal battery or a removable battery. The battery is activated by pressing a button or, in some cases, by drawing on the device. More advanced kits provide options for changing the power settings of a kit.
The Tank/Pod
The tank holds two consumable elements of an e-cigarette. The first is the e-liquid, which is the element of vaping that contains the nicotine and is vaporised by the coil. The coil is the second consumable, which will need to be replaced when it becomes burnt.
There are two types of tank: either a screw on external tank or a pod that sits within the device.
The Coils
The coil is responsible for creating vapour. Power is provided by the battery, and the wicking material absorbs liquid from the tank. When power is delivered, it vaporises the e-liquid and provides you with vapour to inhale.
What is the Difference Between Mouth to Lung and Direct to Lung?
There are three main methods of vaping, which all differ slightly. These are: mouth to lung (MTL), restricted direct lung (RDL) and direct to lung (DL).
MTL is where most new vapers begin, as it more closely matches the sensation of smoking. The coils associated with MTL vaping are generally above 1.0ohm. These are the standard coils supplied with lower power starter kits, but can be found in more advanced devices for vapers that need a bigger battery or more functions.
RDL lies as a middle ground between MTL and DL. These coils are perfect for vapers who want an airier MTL experience or a restricted DL experience. The most common resistance of RDL coil is around 0.8ohm.
DL is most often associated with more advanced vapers who prefer a larger amount of vapour. DL devices are operated at a much higher power setting. For a DL experience, a lower resistance coil is required. DL vaping is referred to as ‘sub-ohm’ vaping, as the resistance is 1.0ohm or lower. Most sub-ohm coils are around 0.5ohm and below.
For more information regarding which ratio of liquid works best with each coil, please see the e-liquid category.
Which Vape Kit Should I Choose?
That is often a difficult question to answer. Many factors can affect kit suitability, such as personal preference and individual needs. There are two primary categories that devices can be divided into, which are pen style and pod style kits.
Pen Style
Pen style devices are often lower powered MTL kits that are appealing for new vapers, due to their small size and ability to mimic a cigarette.
Some examples of pen style devices include: the eGo AIO 2, eGo Pod Kit, EXCEED D19 and the eGo AIO eco. These four kits are ideal starter kits, as they are all simple to use.
Pod Style
Pod style devices feature a pod instead of a traditional tank. The coil in these pods is either a push-fit coil that is easily replaced, or is built into the pod which is disposed of without the need for specifically changing the coil.
Examples of pod style devices include: the EVIO Grip, WideWick Air, and EVIO C2.
The eRoll Slim Easy Kit is a compact pod style device with a 480mAh battery. For a longer vaping experience, there is also eRoll Slim Full Kit, which includes a 1500mAh charging case which is perfect for vapers on the go.
Most Cigarette Like Experience
The eGo Air is a perfect starter kit for those that want to closely replicate a cigarette with their e-cig. The eGo Air is supplied with filters that make it feel like you are smoking, and the device is compact.
TPD Compliance
The Tobacco Products Directive 2016 (TPD) in the EU, and The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR) in the UK, are a set of laws dictating the regulations that govern e-cigarette sales. In compliance with this legislation, all tanks available from Joyetech UK have a 2ml capacity or less.
